Customs Central Region duty, taxes collection up 25 pc in May

LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has increased duty and taxes 25 percent by collecting Rs 1,8491 million against the assigned target of Rs 1,4808 million during the outgoing month of May 2016. The Central Region is headed by Chief Collector of Customs Samaira Nazir Khan.

According to details, the collectorate of Customs Appraisement under the supervision of Collector Muhammad Sadiq collected Rs 7,089 million duty and taxes, registering a growth of 24 percent while the Collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs 2,353 million against the target of Rs 2,026 under the supervision of Collector of Customs Zulfiqar Younas.

Similarly collectorate of Customs Multan under the supervision of Collector Sarfraz Waraich collected Rs 471 million against the target of Rs6327 million registering a growth of 18 percent against the target.

On the other hand Collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 1576 million duty and taxes registering a hefty growth of 120 percent against the target of Rs 716 million.

The four collectorate under the guidance of Chief Collector Samaira Nazair Khan collected Rs 18491 million enabling the region to registered 25 percent.

Sources told Customs Today that in order to achieve the targets of revenue collection Chief Collector of Customs Central Region Samaira Nazir Khan has instructed all the four collectors of customs to put maximum efforts not only to achieve the target but exceed it.

In this regard the chief collector has paid visited to all the four collectorate motivating the collector and their subordinate on achieving the ambitious target of financial year 20115-16.

The collectorate has also held a number of meetings at the Customs House Lahore and told the customs collcetors the importance of achieving of the financial year target.

It was also repoarted that the chief collector has also taken the collectorates lower staff  including additional deputy and assistant collectors on board  to achieve the target of the financial year.
