ISLAMABAD: Collectorate of Customs Islamabad is considering setting up a “customs shop” for the sale of seized goods. This proposal is already sent to the Federal Board of Revenue for approval.

Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak told Customs Today that basic purpose for the establishment of “customs shop” is to sell the seized goods, because many items such as cosmetics, gold drinks, sweets and shampoo are destroyed due to shortage of space at state warehouses.

It is necessary to mention here that prior to this seized customs goods were being sold at special counters set up at Utility Stores but due to some unavoidable reasons these counters were closed.

Now customs authorities are planning to establish special “Customs Shop” where seized goods will be sold and will attract reasonable prices due to their fine quality.
