LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended judicial remand for 14 days of an accused who was arrested by the customs authorities from Lahore airport on gold smuggling charges.
Accused Ibrar Islam was booked by the Customs Preventive from Allama Iqbal International airport while he was travelling for Muscat.
During the search of his luggage, the customs staff found 550 grams of gold that he was trying to smuggle from Lahore to Muscat.
The customs had registered a case against the accused Ibrar and launched investigation as well after confiscating the gold under the customs laws.
Later, the Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the judge of the Customs Court seeking his physical remand that was approved for interrogation in order to trace the suspects involved in smuggling of gold.
Now he was again produced before the customs court that has sent him to jail on judicial demand.
