LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has issued arrest warrants of Irfan Aziz who is allegedly involved in a cell phones’ smuggling case.
According to the details, the accused was wanted to the customs in the case for interrogation but he was not coordinating on which the Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) moved the court for getting arrest warrants against the accused. Now, the court has issued non-bailabale arrest warrants against the accused person.
The accused was arrested at Multan airport when he was trying to smuggle 1,000 cell phones of assorted brands into Pakistan from Bangkok by evading the duty/taxes to the tune of Rs 2.4 million. The value of the cell phones was estimated at Rs 14 million.
Later, an FIR was lodged against Irfan Nazir under Section 2 (s), 156, (1) 8 and 157 of the Customs Act, 1969.
Meanwhile, the Customs Court has adjourned the pre-arrest bail plea of a suspect named Haseeb Moain, owner of Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills, who is allegedly involved in tax evasion. The bail applications of two other accused Abdul Razaq and Khuda Bukhash have also postponed.
