KARACHI: The Customs Court issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspect namely Ali Raza son of Shoukat Ali, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 63 foreign origin mobile phones.
On June 15, 2019, investigation officer of customs preventive submitted interim charge sheet and informed that on a credible information, customs teams searched Muhammad Omer holding Pakistani passport arrived from Dubai by Emirates flight no 602 and diverted to scanning machine for scanning the luggage of said passenger.
He further submitted that the team conducted examination of black color hand bag in presence of two musheers and recovered 30 LG mobile phones model no LGF320L, 20 LG mobile black model no LGF320 and 13 Samsung mobiles, worth Rs 14,28,000.
He argued that during the search, he was asked to produce lawful documents of goods, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, goods were seized and he was also arrested.
Investigation officer stated that one suspect namely Ali Raza is still absconder in this case and prosecution is trying its best for his arrest and he will be produced before the court when arrested.
After the hearing, court approved interim charge sheet and issued non-bailable warrants against absconding suspect.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the Customs Act, 1969 further read with section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
