Customs Court seeks charge sheet against suspects involved in smuggling

KARACHI: The Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi directed investigation officer to complete investigations and submit charge sheet against suspects namely Mola Bux son of Ghulam Muhammad and Hasil Khan son of Karim Bux, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non- duty paid foreign origin Iranian 14,000 litter High Speed Diesel (HSD).

During the hearing, investigation officer produced the above mentioned suspects before the court and informed that on a credible information, officials intercepted an oil tanker and recovered 14,000 HSD oil valuing to Rs12,60,000 and during the search, suspects were asked to produce any lawful documents of said oil, however, they failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, they were arrested and said oil was seized by the officials.

After the hearing, court sent them to jail on judicial remand and directed investigation office to submit charge sheet against them on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses 8 & 89 of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 3 (1) of Import and Export Control Act, 1950.
