Customs decides to launch crackdown against Iranian oil sellers

SIALKOT: On special instructions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Sialkot and the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala have decided to start a joint campaign against sellers of smuggled diesel and petrol.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR received information selling of Iranian diesel and petrol is on peak in Gujranwala Region. The FBR instructed the customs intelligence to take stern action against sellers who involved in selling of smuggled oil. Both departments will arrange meetings to discuss ways and means to eradicate the selling of illegal Iranian fuel.

Deputy Collector Ahmed Reza Khan and Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region Ali Zeb Khan will keep track of the operation. Sources told the team heads will must file daily report to Collector and Director of Punjab. Sources said that Collector and Director General will also intimate to concerned authorities of FBR about operation.

Sources said that the customs team will not spare any seller who involve in selling of said diesel and petrol whereas team also not accept any political or other pressure to release sellers. Sources told that the customs officials will confiscate all diesel and petrol and earning amount at the spot. The operation will start before December 15, 2016 after meeting of both departments. Sources told that the operation will be secret but the teams will authorize to check all oil tankers and all oil selling shops where sell diesel and patrol.
