ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Customs auction cell earned Rs 42 million through auction of non-duty paid vehicles and smuggled goods held at customs warehouse G-11 Islamabad.
According to details the customs presented 45 smuggled vehicles and 54 lots of miscellaneous seized for auction. The process of auction was supervised by Deputy Collector Aniqa Afzal, while people from Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in this public auction.
Out of 45 vehicles 38 were sold for Rs 38 million, while the customs earned Rs 4 million through the auction of various seized items.
Officials said that all the bidders, who succeed the bids, deposited 25 percent of the total amount on the spot to customs. The bidders also paid 10 percent income tax along with their computerized national identity card (CNIC), while the bidders will have to pay remaining amount within seven working days of the this auction.
The officials said that this was third auction held during first 5 months of financial year 2016-17, adding that auction cell collected hand some revenue through this auction by maintain transparency. They further said that all participants were given equal chance to participate in the auction.
The Islamabad Customs presented Mercedes-Benz bullet proof, Renault Recovery Truck, Toyota Corolla, Yamaha Motor bikes, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mini Pajero, Toyota Double Cabin, Nissan Single Cabin, Mitsubishi Truck, Renault Megan, Toyota Hilux, Mercedes-Benz Ambulance, Toyota Carina, Honda Accord, Mitsubishi Gallant, Nissan X-Trail Comfort, Nissan Sunny, etc.
