KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Export has successfully recovered evaded amount of Rs264 million during the month of April of current Fiscal Year 2017-18.
Earlier, the Customs Export has recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties worth Rs13.58 million from defaulter companies which were issued with notices to pay the outstanding dues.
Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Shakeel Marble Accessories availed undue benefits and concessions after importing different consignments of Polish material, brushes, chemicals and cutter blades by misusing the SRO 561 through Abdul Shakoor Aiwan on November 18, 2017.
Sources further told that the company was allegedly involved in the tax evasion of Rs7 million. After detecting the tax evasion, the Customs Export served on it a final notice on 17 April 2018 to deposit the evaded amount in fourteen days to avoid stern action.
After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Shakeel Marble Accessories deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on 2nd May.
Sources told that another defaulter company named M/s Kiran Traders also cleared Rs 6.58 million of taxes and duties. Sources told that M/s Kiran Traders also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.
The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 12 April, 2018. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Kiran Traders deposited the evaded amount of taxes into the official account.
