Customs exports starts crackdown against tax defaulters

KARACHI: The Model Customs export has started a crackdown against tax defaulters and issued notice to many tax evading companies. Recently, two private companies have paid their arrears while the department has also issued show cause notice to a private company in Mirpurkhas to submit its outstanding taxes.

Customs officials told Customs Today that the department has issued notice to M/s Nizhit Textile during the first week of October, warning the company to pay tax in 14 days. The company cleared its consignments during the last week of August by misusing Pakistan Customs Tariff. Now the company submitted Rs 123,000 arrears after receiving the final notice. In another action, the department issued final notice to M/s Asif Traders in a tax evasion case. The company cleared its two consignments of hard glass by misusing SRO564. It is revealed during the audit of the company and now the company has paid its pending tax of Rs 87,000.

Now the department issued show cause notice to Al-Mehran Company located in the area of Mirpurkhas near Ghass Mandi. The audit of the said company started before a month in which company found the defaulters of Rs90000. The department warned the company through notice to deposit tax amount in 7 days otherwise department take strict legal action against it.
