Customs Exports retrieves Rs23.50m from companies issued with notices to pay dues

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has recovered the evaded taxes and duties amounting to Rs23.50million from four companies which were issued with notices to pay outstanding dues.

Sources told reporter that, during scrutiny of the import data, it was found that M/s Ehsan Leather availed undue benefits and concessions by importing different consignments and misusing the SRO 562.

The company founded involved in a tax evasion of Rs5.68million. After detecting tax evasion, the Customs Exports issued them with final notice to deposit the evaded amount within seven days. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Ehsan Leather deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Exports.

On the other hand, the management of the M/s Azeema Traders also cleared Rs6.11million of taxes and duties. Sources said the M/s Azeema Traders also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Exports authorities issued them with a final show cause notice. After receiving the notice, the management of the Azeema Traders deposited the evaded amount of taxes.

Other defaulter company S S Enterprises deposited Rs4.21million against the final notice No: 239/2017 issued on October 22, 2017.

Sources said the Customs Exports also recovered Rs7.50million from M/s Rabiya Garments. The company availed undue benefits and concessions by importing the consignments of ladies embroidery suits. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Rabiya Garments cleared the amount.
