Customs foils bid to smuggle 3.2kg heroin to Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Customs foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of heroin worth millions of rupees to Saudi Arabia from Pakistan here at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

As per details, Islamabad Customs Deputy Collector Shahid Jan received information that an attempt will be made to smuggle heroin to Riyadh on a flight that will go via Muscat.

Following the tip-off, the customs officials stepped up the checking of luggage and passengers that led to the recovery of 3.2 kilogram of heroin from the luggage of a passenger namely as Asif Mehmood and resident of Khushab. The value of the illegal drugs is estimated at almost Rs 22 million.

Talking to Customs Today, Shahid Jan said that accused person has been arrested for further interrogation, adding that further arrests were possible from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in this regard.
