Customs Intelligence recovers narcotics worth Rs 2.5b in last four months

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation of the Federal Board of Revenue has seized a huge quantity of narcotics worth billions of rupees during the last four months. Besides, the directorate has recovered duty and taxes worth millions of rupees.

According to the figures released by Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations to Customs Today, at least 100 kilograms heroin, 2,561 kilogram charas and 12 kilogram opium worth Rs 2.5 billion were sized during special operations all over Pakistan.

It is necessary to mention here that during last year of the same period, the directorate general had seized narcotics which included six kilogram heroin, 1,153.5 kilogram charas and 8 kilogram opium.

According to the figures the performance of Directorate General has been increased as compared with the performance of previous year.

While on the other hands Directorate General I&I has collected revenue of Rs 360.89 million under the head of evaded duty and taxes in last four months. While during the same period of last year Directorate General had recovers Rs 217.39 million in terms of evaded tax and duties.

It is also pertinent to mention here that present Director General Shaukat Ali after assuming the charge of as Director General Customs I&I in 2nd week of October 2016, the directorate showed tremendous performance.
