Customs’ PCA establishes audit observations of Rs 300m in March; makes 31 contravention reports

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) has made 31 contravention reports (CRs) in March-2015 by detecting total amount of evaded duty/taxes almost Rs 300 million against different importers through audit observations.

According to details, the PCA has detected violation of various SROs including SRO 1125(I)/2011, SRO575, SRO659 and others in which the PCA authorities found that the importers availed inadmissible concession of Sales Tax and corresponding Income Tax in its audit observations.

The PCA authorities in the audit observations further found that the several importers were involved in misusing the SRO 567(I)/2006, nonpayment of Sales Tax and corresponding Income Tax, non-payment of Customs Duty by misclassification of PCTs including 9018.9090, 2924.1990, 4105.2100, 4106.2100, 3210.0020, 2402.1300, 3404.9090, 6109.1000, 6001.2910, 4101.5020, 3506.9110, 6307.1090, 3403.9110, 2905.3100, 5911.9090, 5807.1020, 5509.3100, 3808.9220, 5407.3000, 5516.9400, 6001.9990, 6117.1020, 3202.1000, 5807.1010, 2933.3990, 7208.3990, 8471.5000, 8517.6970 and 8517.6970.

Sources informed Customs Today that the Post Clearance Audit-PCA after making audit observations through contravention reports have sent the cases to the adjudicating authorities for further legal proceedings.

“The authorities concerned are continuing their efforts for detecting more duty/taxes evasion cases in the upcoming months”, sources added.
