Customs Preventive thwarts smuggling of 350 rare turtles

KARACHI: A team of Customs Preventive has foiled a bid to smuggle 350 rare turtles from Quetta to Karachi worth billions of rupees.

The Customs Preventive received information that rare breed turtles were being smuggled from Quetta to Karachi on which a team was constituted under the supervision of the Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza.

During checking, the customs officers intercepted a passenger bus near Mochko and found 350 turtles packed in boxes. The Customs officers arrested the suspect identified as Baaz Muhammad and registered a case against him. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the mastermind involved in the crime.

Sources informed Customs Today that the customs authorities are in contact with the Wildlife Department and soon the turtles will be handed over to them. However, the turtles will remain in the custody of the customs authorities until the completion of investigations.
