KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs has restarted the Green Channel facility for Afghan Transit Trade with an aim to facilitate the Afghan traders, Customs Today learnt.
The official sources told Customs Today that the Green Channel facility started on November 3, 2015 just for the clearance of cargo under Transit Trade.
Sources said the move is subjected to scenario where the volume of transportation of Afghan Transit Trade reportedly declined by an estimated 65 to 70 percent in recent months at the Pakistan’s ports i.e. Karachi Port and Port Qasim.
The volume of Afghan Transit Trade through Pakistan has been on a constant decline. It is reportedly dropped by over 54 percent during Fiscal Year 2011-12.
At present, around 2,000 containers are used in Afghan Transit Trade form the Karachi ports and trucks on which these Kabul-bound cargoes are transported are tracked cent percent.
