ISLAMABAD: A bench of Customs Appellate Tribunal reserved decision on couple of customs related cases and adjourned hearing of eight others here on Monday.
The bench headed by Chairman Justice (r) Malik Manzoor Hussain and comprising another Member, Ziaudding Wazir heard ten customs references on Monday filed against Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad.
The bench reserved decision of cases filed by M/s Kohinoor Traders, which had filed two separate references. It may be mentioned here that decisions will be announced in upcoming hearings.
Hearing of other references filed by M/s Waseem Autos, M/s Nisar Traders, M/s Parts & Parts, M/s Chief Autos, M/s Aman Elahi, M/s Kohinoor Traders, M/s Saleem Silk, M/s Malik Jehangir and M/s Pakistan Royal Group was adjourned. The members directed the parties in the cases to submit relating documents on next date of hearing.
The tribunal’s divisional bench heard arguments on the cases on Monday and decided the two after satisfactory arguments presented by both sides and adjourned others for further arguments due to missing some of information about the cases.
The tribunal heard many of these cases included the ones hearing of which was pending owing to absence of tribunal’s chairman, as no division bench could operate without the chairman at Islamabad headquarters.
All the cases, decided and adjourned, had been filed against the Customs Intelligence complaining on department’s decision about customs duty and others. The appellant had challenged announcements of the department at the tribunal through the said submissions.
