Drug court recovers over Rs 24m from violators in 2 years

MULTAN: Drug Court Multan recovered fine worth Rs 24.368 million from violators sentenced by the court on different violations during last two years.

According to a report detailing the Multan Drug Court performance sent by court’s assistant private secretary to provincial secretary health, the court decided 110 cases in only one month, May 2015, wherein 89 violators faced punishment of imposition of fine, and sixteen others faced other punishments. Five other violators were acquitted.

According to the report, fine worth Rs 8.593 million was recovered from violators in 2012-13 and another Rs 15.775 million in 2013-14.

It may be noted that the Drug Court Multan hear cases against violations reported by health officials from Multan, Sahiwal and DG Khan division under the Drug Court Act.
