Earthquake triggers massive panic at Customs House, Dry Port

MULTAN: Earthquake triggered massive panic among employees of Customs House, Multan Dry Port and Regional Tax Office Multan.

The fresh earthquake caused immense fear among the general people including Customs employees working in MCC Multan, Multan Dry Port and Regional Tax Office Multan. Customs employees including Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa and Deputy Collector Abdul Mueed Kanjoo moved towards the garden of MCC Multan in order to ensure their safety at the time of earthquake.

Strong tremors of the quake were felt in the Multan city and its surrounding areas including Multan Dry Port, Sher Shah areas where employees rushed out of their office buildings in panic and some even started crying. Customs authorities at the Regional Tax Office Multan and MCC Multan even appealed to their employees to stay in open fields.

An emergency situation was created when all the employees were racing towards the open place in Customs House of MCC Multan leaving their routine work. Several employees were praying versus of Holy Quran for the well-being of their loved ones. The Regional Tax Office Multan employees came out of their offices at the time of earthquake.

After the earthquake shocks, employees were contacting their families to know about their condition. Even after the earthquake customs employees were not ready to work due to much penetrated fright and rumours of expected earthquake aftershocks. One of Customs Adjudication employees Muhammad Ansar told Customs Today that his got panicked at the time of earthquake when he felt that windows, fans and chairs of the room were moving and then suddenly everyone was trying to run away from the building by shouting “bhagoo bhagoo Zalzala”.
