LAHORE: The Accountability Court has approved a 15-day physical remand of Kamran Saeed, the former General Manager (Marketing and Distribution) of the National Fertilizer Marketing Limited (NFML) and handed him over to the NAB team for investigations.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested the suspect on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in Rs 1.6 billion scam.
According to NAB sources, the accused had been arrested on allegations of forgery, misuse of authority, embezzlement and causing loss to the national exchequer.
The accused, in connivance with others, managed to sell more than 59000 metric ton of urea in back dates on rates less than the ones applicable at that time. This act of the accused persons created artificial shortage in the market and caused panic among the farmers.
It is essential to mention here that NAB Lahore has already arrested nine other accused in the same case.
