Evaded taxes and duties retrieved from defaulter companies after serving notices

KARACHI: The Customs Export has recovered the evaded taxes and duties amounting to Rs10.75million from defaulter companies which had been issued with notices to pay the outstanding arrears.

Sources told Customs Today that, during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Zulfiqar Ehsan Enterprises availed undue benefits and concessions by importing different consignments and misusing the SRO 466.

The company was found involved in a tax evasion of Rs6.25million. After detecting tax evasion, the Customs Export served a final notice on them on January 9, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Zulfiqar Ehsan Enterprises deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on 7th of February.

On the other hand, the management of the M/s Hanif Wooden Handicrafts and Export Karachi also cleared Rs4.50million of taxes and duties. Sources said the M/s Hanif Wooden Handicrafts and Export also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served a final notice on it on January 16, 2018. After receiving the notice, the management of Hanif Wooden Handicrafts and Export Karachi paid the evaded amount of taxes.
