Faisalabad ASO impounds non-duty paid Toyota, cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized smuggled cloth along with Toyota car worth Rs 2 million involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 155,278.

Sources told Customs Today that in pursuance of information received through Collector Dr Zulifkar Ali Chaudhary, the ASO team raided near Deputywala Interchange Motorway Chowk Sargodha Road and found foreign origin cloth.

The smuggled cloth were being transported from Peshawar  to Faisalabad through Toyota Corolla car bearing registration no. AUN-228. The staff asked the accused person namely Muhammad Asif Khan Son of Muhammad Akbar Khan r district Nowshera  (driver), and Said Jan owner and a Afghan citizen  to produce legal documents but they remained failed.

Therefore, ASO seized the clothe along with vehicle under section 2(s), read with SRO 566(1),2005 section 16, 18, 157, 168, and 178 of the Customs Act 1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act, 1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3 (1) 3 of Import & Export Control Act 1950, punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 dated 13.06.2009 after completion of all the legal formalities.

ASO team comprising team person Superintendent  Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Liaqat Ali others conducted the operation against smuggler.
