Faisalabad  ASO seizes non-duty paid tyres, tubes, cigarattes

FAISALABAD: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad  has intercepted a Bedford truck bearing registration No. FDG- 1616 loaded with foreign origin tyres, tubes and cigarettes worth Rs 310,091.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team received secret information through deputy collector Rizwan Khan that a truck which is loaded with smuggled tyres tubes and cigarettes was brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes. That smuggled items were being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad. Following the information, the ASO team intercepted the vehicle near Chowk Khurrianwala Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked the driver and his colleague identified as Muhammad Dawood son of Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Imran Farooq son f Chaudhary Farooq  Saleem to produce legal documents regarding possession of the items, but they failed to provide any relevant documents. The ASO team consisted of Superintendent Muhammad Javed Mehmood , Abdul Jabbar, Masood Saeed Chohan (inspector) Liaquat Ali, Hafiz Naseer (driver), Muhammad Shmad, Javed Iqbal  (sepoys).

The ASO after seizing the items forwarded the case to the Customs adjudication for further proceedings.
