FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin tyres and tubes worth Rs500,000 involved customs duty and taxes Rs7,5000 during.
According to details, Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad received information that foreign origin tyres are being smuggled into Faisalabad. He immediately constituted a team consisting Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, Sepoys Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Khalid, Afzal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf and Liaqat Ali.
The above mentioned ASO team raided near kamal Pur inter change, Faisalabad and intercepted bus bearing registration No, FSA-4055 loaded with smuggled tyres (40-Nos), the team recovered foreign origin tyres that were being transferred into Faisalabad from Lahore.
The ASO team asked the owner who was identified as Sharafat Ali son of Mobarik Ali, and Muhammad Sultan son of Muhammad Ramzan to produce documents regarding the possession and transportation of these tyres but he failed to provide any relevant documents.
After his failure the ASO team seized the smuggled tyres under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 for violation of section 2(S), 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969. ASO authorities after registering a case of smuggling against Owner started further investigations.
