Faisalabad Customs Adjudication declares seizure of Toyota Vitz lawful

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued Order-in -Original (ONO) for outright confiscations of a vehicle by deciding the case in favour of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali.

As per details, the Mianwali ASO intercepted a Toyota Vitz bearing Registration No. AKT-713 within its jurisdiction. The vehicle was impounded under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and for the violation of section 2(s) read with SRO section 16, 18 of the Customs Act, as documents regarding its legal import could not be produced. The case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication.

Inspector Munir Ahmad appeared on the behalf of seizing agency and asserted that the seized vehicle fell under the ambit of section 2(s) of the Customs Act, 1969, adding that it could not be redeemed on payment of duty and taxes. However, no one appeared from the respondent side to defend the allegations.

Therefore, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued ONO for outright confiscation of the seized vehicle in favour of Mianwali ASO under Section 156(I) 89 (i) of the customs act.
