Faisalabad Customs Intelligence confiscates items worth Rs1.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs1.5 million involving duty and taxes of Rs1 million during a road action.

According to the details, the intelligence team followed a lead of Deputy Director Riaz Hussain and conducted various raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region.

Sources said that the customs intelligence intercepted a trailer near canal road Arfa Kareem underpass and recovered computer system without hard disks, used personal computer, computers dual core, laptops without hard disks, LCDs, computer switch assorted brand, computer data leads, UPS with battery assorted models and hard disk.

The customs intelligence team asked the accused persons, Muhammad Saleem son of Muhammad Mukhtar and Muhammad Amin son of Muhammad Ismail, to provide legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the said items. The accused remained failed to provide any required document.

After failure, the customs intelligence team confiscated the said items under Section 156(1), 89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.

The intelligence team participated in the said seizure operation includes Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Ajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad.

The customs intelligence team forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceeding.
