Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs1.9m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team confiscated miscellaneous goods worth Rs1.9 million involving duty and taxes of Rs0.79 million during road checking.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence team was on routine checking near Gattwala Toll Plaza. The customs team intercepted a Mazda mini truck bearing registration no: LEI-14-6809. The customs team checked the vehicle and recovered miscellaneous items including cookware set (15 carton) German origin, Boxiya brand electric lunch box (10 carton), electric heater (7 carton), electric fan heater (5 carton), Reo Vova brand knife set (16 carton), porcelain mug (22 carton), universal wrench (9 carton), pillar multi function (6 carton), battery connection with clips (2 carton), electronic rechargeable scale (4 carton), different tools (2 carton), plant cutter (2 carton) and other items.

Sources said that the customs staff asked the driver to show the legal documents regarding possession and transportation of the goods. The driver, who was identified as Muhammad Nafees son of Abdul Majeed a resident of Narrowal, remained fail to provide any required document.

After his failure, the customs team confiscated the smuggled items and registered a case of smuggling against the accused.

The Customs Intelligence team forwarded the case to the customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
