ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to approach the International Court of Justice for recovery of $ 11 million from Kuwait-based company M/s Agility.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR will also appeal to International Court of Justice to order M/s Agility to pay them all the expenditures which will be occurred during hearings of the case.

During examination of the case by the Federal Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, the authorities found that no such accord existed between Pakistan and Kuwait which was referred by M/s Agility. When the FBR asked the company to submit the relevant record, they preferred to withdraw the case instead of pursuing it in International Court of Justice.

The FBR signed an agreement in 2005 with M/s Agility to provide software about clearance and paid $11 million but suspended the accord in 2010. The National Accountability Bureau is also investigating three former chairmen of the FBR in this regard.
