FBR finalises plan to achieve assigned revenue collection target of FY18-19

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has finalised a plan to achieve the assigned target of Rs4,398 billion for the current fiscal year (2018-19) in the chief commissioners’ moot held here at FBR headquarter, it is learnt here.

Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Jahanzeb Khan presided over the conference. This was the first chief commissioners’ conference after the establishment of PTI government and also for new FBR chairman, sources added.

During the conference, the action plan was prepared for the remaining period of the current financial year up to June 30, 2019 after detailed consultation among participants.

Sources said that it has been agreed during the conference that a list of all pending cases of income and sales tax, through which revenue could be received, should be collected immediately and if the revenue is not being received because of stay orders, the chief commissioners should request the higher court for cancellation of maximum stay orders so as to enable the FBR collect maximum revenue till June 30.

Sources also added that FBR Chairman Jahanzaib Khan has also urged the chief commissioners that they should focus on enforcement, audit and bringing new taxpayers in the tax net and maximum efforts would be directed towards collection of arrears.

It is important to mention here that the basic purpose of the conference was to review the performance of Large Taxpayers Units and Regional Tax Offices and make a new strategy for the achievement of the revenue target of the current financial year.
