ISLAMABAD: The FBR has refuted the negative profiling of its entire workforce in some sections of the print media and clarified that like any other organisation it also is consisted of a mixed lot of human resource, having common human frailty.

In a statement issued here, spokesperson for FBR Shahid Hussain Asad who is also Member IR-Policy, asserted that the board had its fair share of officers/officials of integrity and competence. “Concerted efforts have been made to post officers of known integrity at critical positions over the past six months.”

Shahid Hussain Asad clarified that the FBR chairman did not make any statement during the PAC meeting on Jan 1, rather responded to some very specific questions that were asked by the PAC members.

He said that one of the questions was whether tax at source was deducted from the salaries of Parliamentarians to which the FBR chairman responded in affirmative.

He added that the PAC also informed that every person having income above the threshold was required to file an IT return.

The FBR spokesperson said that another question was whether agriculture income tax was to be collected by the FBR’s and it was explained that the tax was to be collected by the provincial government as per the Constitution.
