ISLAMABAD: Running without top officials, the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) heard a few cases regarding the Federal Board of Revenue in third week of July.

The FST could not hear and decide the cases being filed by FBR employees, because a majority of its benches remained dysfunctional during the week as the members had to perform duties at other stations.

In such situation, hearing of cases was adjourned in general. FST bench comprising Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Syed Muhammad Hamid was assigned to hear the cases filed by Rashid ul Wahab, Sardar Ghiyas, Muhammad Amir Farooq, Abdul Hakeem and Jan Muhammad Afridi. They all had filed complaint regarding un-implemented decision of FST. The bench adjourned hearing of cases as Syed Rafique Hussain Shah had not reached the capital by then.

Cases filed by Salahuddin Khan, Muhammad Shafiq, Aleem Ahmed and Muhammad Mumtaz were also adjourned following same problem. They had filed cases carrying implementation, correction of date of birth, seniority and censure matters.

Another bench of FST comprising Ishtiaq Ahmed and Dr Nazir Saeed also adjourned hearing of case filed by Sher Afgan Ali due to absence member from the city.

However, FST benches would start functioning fully in the coming week since FST chairman, Syed Zahid Hussain had joined office couple of days ago and other members including Muhammad Arshad Bhatti, Dr Nazir Saeed and Ishtiaq Ahmed had also been called to the Islamabad office.
