FTO disposes of 1,179 complaints by August 2016

ISLAMABAD: Striving hard to bring relief to the business community, the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has shown significant achievement regarding disposal of complaints by taxpayers across the country.

This was revealed by the FTO officials taking into consideration the monthly evaluation report which showed that the FTO office disposed of 1,179 complaints by August 2016.

The FTO decided 1,610 complaints in 2015 while in August this year the office achieved around 73 percent of disposed of complaints.

According to details, these disposals were made out of total 1,546 complaints registered with the FTO office.

The FTO officials stated that number of disposed of cases had improved with endless efforts of Abdur Rauf Chaudhry and the staffers accompanying him.

It is pertinent to mention that last year the FTO had disposed of 1,610 complaints out of total 1,892 complaints investigated in the year, which included 1,509 fresh and 383 complaints carried from the preceding year.

Statistics of 2015 showed disposed cases consisted of 878 income tax complaints, 447 sales tax complaints, 177 customs complaints, one of federal excise duty, three about freedom of information and other 3 were FTO’s own motions. While the disposed complaints carried from preceding year contained 187 income tax complaints, 137 sales tax complaints, 53 customs complaints, and two own motion.
