Customs recovers smuggled goods worth Rs160m in 20 days of March

KARACHI: The Customs authorities have recovered smuggled items worth Rs 160 million during the first 20 days of the current month.

Sources informed Customs Today that Collector Saeed Akram received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed various teams to curb smuggling activities.

The teams recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods in various raids. The seized goods include 66,000 Iranian smuggled items, 200 bottles of foreign origin whisky, 50 kilograms of fine quality hashish, 25,000 liters of Iranian petrol, LEDs, DVDs, Indian origin gutka, foreign origin cigarettes, smuggled tyres, heavy duty generators, three non-duty paid trucks and three buses. The market value of these vehicles is Rs 8 million.
