IHC adjourns hearing of tax references filed against Customs Appellate Tribunal, FBR

ISLAMABAD: Two division benches of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a couple of tax references involving Customs Appellate Tribunal and field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani; and another comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the cases.

The former bench heard a sales tax reference filed by commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Islamabad. This tax matter involves M/s Hub Power Company as the respondent. The bench adjourned the hearing after counsels involved sought time from the court. The bench would resume the hearing of this case in coming month.

Later bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard income tax reference filed by M/s Shaigan Pharmaceutical Private Limited and another cases filed against Customs Appellate Tribunal, Islamabad.

M/s Shaigan Pharmaceutical Private Limited had challenged a show cause notice issued to the company by the commissioner Inland Revenue, LTU.

Appellant Muhammad Nadeem had challenged decision announced by Customs Appellate Tribunal on imported goods’ duty valuation. The bench adjourned hearing of these cases for coming week.
