Holding a meeting with local traders and industrialists, Chaudhry said that the trend has decreased the trade volume at the local port.

Faisalabad Dry Port Trust Chairman Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmad and prominent industrialists and a large number of importers and exporters were also present on the occasion.

The Collector Customs further said that since assumption of charge, he cleared 300 stuck-up containers out of which 41 containers were reportedly de-sealed already. Hence by taking special initiative, he resolved this issue up to the entire satisfaction of importers and exporters.

He referred to the Punjab chief minister’s statement wherein he stated that 70 percent of the export was based from Punjab and Faisalabad has a major share in it. He urged Faisalabad exporters to route their consignments through Faisalabad Dry Port so the adequate revenue might be generated and the port may be upgraded.

He appreciated the efforts of Chairman FDPT Sh. Muhammad Ahmad and founder Chairman Mian Muhammad Latif to revive the FDPT activities. He further disclosed that he had taken special initiatives to curb the Customs personnel involved in malpractices.

He announced that undocumented import commodities would be given time frame of seven days to present the relevant documents otherwise action would be taken in accordance with law.

The Collector Customs ensured to direct the concerned quarters not to receive any undue penalties against the law.
