TEHRAN: Iranian Veterinary Organization’s Deputy Director for Health and Prevention Affairs Jamaleddin Javidi said that Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance late last year, checked several Iranian institutes for production of animal products, that were willing to export products to the Eurasian Economic Union, and now has issued permissions for export of the products by the companies and institutes.

He said that following efforts made by the Veterinary Organization of Iran and the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad over recent months to gain license for export of poultry and dairy products to Russia, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance sent a letter to the Iranian Organization to welcome the bid.

Javidi said in the first round of the project, four dairy production plants and two poultry slaughter houses will be licensed to export their products to Russia.

Iran’s Veterinary Organization and Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance signed a memorandum of understanding in December when the export license of Iran’s fishery products to Russia was issued.

Based on the memorandum signed by Deputy Head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Alexey Alekseenko and Iran’s Head of Veterinary Organization Mehdi Khalaj, representatives from Russia officially confirmed the authorization of fishery products export to the Russian Federation.

Due to the agreement made, Iranian side expressed interest in exporting livestock products including poultry meat, fertilized eggs and edible eggs, honey and bee products as well as cow’s intestine and skin.

The Russian side, for its part, pledged to announce the anticipated regulations of Russian and Eurasian Customs Union to Iran’s Veterinary Organization.
