DUBLIN: Ireland’s industrial production surged ahead of other European Union countries in June when compared to the same month of 2014, according to figures from Eurostat.
Industrial production was 1.7% higher across the EU’s 28 member states and up 1.2% across the euro zone – while Ireland saw growth of 27.6% when comparing June 2015 to June 2014.
This gave Ireland by far the highest rate of growth in the EU, with Denmark the next best at 7.6%.
Greece had the biggest fall in production during the month – down 4.6%.
Across the euro area the production of non-durable consumer goods was up 2.5%, while capital goods were up 1.7%.
Month-on-month industrial production fell in the EU and euro zone, down 0.2% and 0.4% respectively.
Despite its strong growth on last year’s figures, Ireland’s industrial production also dipped between May and June, down 2% in the period.
Denmark had the highest monthly growth, however, up 4.2% from May to June.
