ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector said the AFU has earned Rs115.00million Customs Duty till 24th of May of Financial Year 2016-17. The performance of the AFU has been slow due to upcoming budget of Financial Year 2017-18. The importers are waiting for new duty and taxe schedule.

Additional Deputy Collector Khawaja Khuram Naeem maintained that the importers are holding their imports due to budget announcement. He added that the revised revenue target is very high so the AFU may not pursue its assigned target for May FY16-17, but he is optimistic that the AFU will try its level best to meet the allocated revised revenue target.
The AFU will meet its overall revenue target, but Customs Duty target is unexpectedly high, he opined. During the next seven days of May FY2016-17, the AFU is expecting some big consignments, he emphasized. Some handsome revenue is expected from said import consignments during the next days of current month, he predicted.
Expected coming consignments of imports during the rest of seven days of current month of May comprise telecommunication sector as it is a major source of revenue collection for AFU Islamabad, he substantiated.
Regarding the performance of previous months, he said the AFU tried to enhance its efficiency and emphasized that the AFU wants improvement through audit and facilitation which will ultimately benefit the business community. The AFU was allocated the revenue collection target Rs225million under the head of CD for March 2016-17.
