Karachi Customs AIB-R&D recovers Rs10m during May by detecting three cases of tax evasion

KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch AIB/R&D of Model Customs Collectorate of MCC-Appraisement-West has recovered revenue amounting to Rs 10 million (Rs 1106914) during the month of May-2015 by detecting three cases of massive tax evasion in which the importers involved in violation of PCT Codes and Valuation Rulings.

According to details, the authorities concerned of AIB/R&D while following the directives of Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem and Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafiq have initiated revenue recovery from gigantic importers and recovered Rs 20206914 from three importers during the month of May, 2015.

The AIB/R&D authorities have recovered Rs 407176 from M/s Imdad General Trading in violation of PCT heading in its imported consignments.

They have also recovered revenue amounting to Rs 799738 from the importer M/s Atlas Battery in violation of PCT heading in its imported consignments of batteries and other items.

The AIB/R&D authorities concerned of MCC-Appraisement-West have recovered revenue of Rs 8.9 million from the importer M/s Adamjee Automobiles in applying inappropriate valuation ruling in its imported consignments of auto-parts.

It is pertinent to mention here that Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafiq has already disclosed to this scribe that the strict scrutiny by the authorities concerned of AIB/R&D of imported consignments has barred the unauthentic importers to carry out their illegal trade from MCC-Appraisement -West.

“Only bulk-quantity importers are using in import of their consignments through MCC-Appraisement -West”, ADC added.
