Mianwali ASO impounds non duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali, which falls in the jurisdiction of Faisalabad Customs, has impounded a non-duty paid vehicle, Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 19,16,109 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 13,16,109.

Sources told Customs Today Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan constituted a team to curb non duty paid vehicles plying onroads. An ASO team intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G V-6 vehicle bearing registration no. LEC-11-3777 near Musa Khail Rawalpindi Road district Mianwali.

The officials asked the driver namely Jehanzeb Khan son Alamgir Khan resident of Androon Railway Gate Bannu to produce the documents showing the legal possession of the vehicle. But he could not show any documents on which the customs officials took the vehicle into custody under Section 156 (I) of the Customs Act 1969 and served notice upon the accused person.

However, after a considerable passage of time no one appeared before the seizing agency to show legally documents for clearance of vehicle or to prove its legal import on which customs impounded the vehicle, besides sending contravention report to adjudication.

ASO team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar Inspector Umar Bhatti Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Saifullah, Muhammad Ghulam Mohyuddin and others conducted raid.
