Multan AFU generates Rs14.4m during FY 2015-16

MULTAN: The Air Freight Unit (AFU) of Customs Collectorate Multan has collected Rs 14.4 million from import of various consignments during the economic year 2015-16 under the heads of customs duty, sales tax and income tax.

The AFU is playing an active role after the establishment of Multan International Airport. Business Community of Multan has acquired the facilities of International standards at the airport. At least 94 international flights operate at the Multan airport.

The Customs staff is providing golden opportunities to the business community of the region for the advancement of import through various countries of the world. There were only 12 international flights in a week before the inauguration of Multan International Airport and the Customs Collectorate was generating minor revenue from import consignments. It is pertinent to mention that before the establishment of the airport AFU had imported only 17 import Gd,s worth Rs882,000 in the fiscal year 2014-15.

The AFU has handled 132 various import Gd,s worth of Rs250.583 million after the establishment of International Airport in Multan by generating revenue of Rs14.442 million during the whole fiscal year 2015-16. Air Freight Unit of Multan Customs has collected Customs duty of Rs5.1 million ,Sales taxes of Rs6.544 million and Income taxes of Rs2.798 million during the complete fiscal year 2015-16.

Multan Customs is trying to provide more facilities to importers of the South Punjab Region for the clearance of their import batches which will also promote trade activities as well as revenue of Multan Customs.

Collector Sarfraz Warraicht told Customs Today that people business community wants well-organized services and smooth clearance of their import deliveries without any trouble and Multan Customs is convincing business community to adopt this route for the import of consignment by delivering better facilities as they required.

Sarfraz lauded the performance of the employees deployed at the airport for their revenue generation services in after the beginning of standard cargo services as compare to previous fiscal year 2014-15. He directed the concerned staff to continue their same performance by making more efforts for revenue generation.
