MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded two different non-customs paid vehicles worth Rs.3.6 million.
According to details, Multan Customs received reliable information from their source that transportation of smuggled vehicles will be carried out through Multan region. Acting upon the said information, Assistant Collector Multan Customs Omer Bin Zafar Chatha initiated action against non-customs paid vehicles and directed Anti-Smuggling Organization to intercept said vehicles.
Anti-smuggling squad included Inspector Abdul Samad, Inspector Waqas Hameed, Inspector Abdul Sattar, Muhammad Ishfaq Bhatti, Muhammad Irfan Qureshi, Muhammad Awais Hassan and Shahbaz Ahmad to foil the attempt of the smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles.
Assistant Collector Omer Bin Zafar Chatha supervised the whole operation and alerted the anti-smuggling staff to check vehicles appropriately in the jurisdiction. Anti-smuggling squad started patrolling of the suspected routes after receiving information to foil any attempt of smuggling and enhanced monitoring of the entry and exit routes of the region.
Anti-smuggling squad seized Toyota Land Cruiser jeep of model 1996 worth Rs2 million from Bahawalpur Bypass Multan. In another action, Customs teams impounded Honda Civic car of model 2007 from Makhdoom Rasheed in their actions. The net value of said vehicle was almost Rs.1.6 million. Drivers of said vehicle failed to produce any documents to justify their legal possessions. Both seized vehicles were non-customs paid and value of the vehicles was almost Rs 3.6 million. Further investigations against seized vehicles are still underway.
