Multan Customs Intelligence orders field staff to arrest owner of seized vehicle

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has issued new instructions to field formations staff for the arrest of seized vehicle owners along with their non-custom paid vehicles.

Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Shaukat Ali has issued directions to field formation offices of the country, including Multan Range Office, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Islamabad, Lahore and others, to register First Information Report (FIR) against the accused. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has asked the Field Intelligence Unit to launch vigorous anti-smuggling operations against the smugglings.

The Customs Intelligence Multan Range Office has anticipated extensive anti-smuggling operations due to scattered areas of Baluchistan and Sindh borders. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office seized 75 % smuggled vehicles during their first six months.

Director General Customs Intelligence has formulated a new plan to curtail the smuggling of non-custom paid vehicles in all over Pakistan, including Multan Range Office.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office received special circular order by director general Customs Intelligence to arrest drivers and owners of seized vehicles.

Deputy Director Abdul Mueed Kanjoo has also assigned his staff of Customs Intelligence to lodge legal cases against drivers and owners of the seized vehicles.  This action will promote culture of legitimate duty paid vehicles in the country.
