MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs team recovered huge quantity of smuggled cigarettes and Gutka of worth Rs11 million during raid.
Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Saud Imran Ahmad received tip off that huge quantity of foreign origin non-customs paid goods are stored in a private warehouse in Multan region.

Collector Customs Saud Imran immediately constituted special team of Anti-smuggling Organization which comprises Superintendent Habib ur Rehman, Inspector Aziz-ur-Rehman, Inspector Saleem Khan, Inspector Rana Mujtaba Noon, Inspector Ghulam Asghar, Muhammad Imran and others to take action against foreign origin smuggled goods.
Multan Customs Anti-smuggling Organization took search warrants of suspected place from magistrate before raiding the said private warehouse.
Customs teams raided the house after breaking their locks near NLC bypass Kherra Chowk and recovered huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes and Gutka.
Nobody was present inside the house at the time of raid and Multan Customs recovered 199 sacks of Gutka brand of Pan Parag One 2 One.
Almost 145 cartons of foreign origin cigarettes of Pine and Milano were also recovered during the action of Multan Customs. Recovered cigarettes were without any pictorial health warning and this was also evidence that these cigarettes were foreign origin.
Smugglers have stored these smuggled Gutka and cigarettes in house and supplied to retail market in the different areas of South Punjab.
Customs teams took the smuggled goods in their custody and started further investigations against the recovered goods of worth approximately Rs.11 million. Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution I &P started investigations against the owner of house for these smuggled goods. Customs has also asked land owner to give detail about the tenant for probing possession of these seized goods.
