MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) recovered Rs1.5 million of non-customs paid heavy traffic vehicle’s (HTV) tyres and Toyota Land Cruiser in three different successful actions.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has directed Anti-Smuggling Organization to step up crackdown against smuggled goods to curb smuggling in South Punjab and anti-smuggling squad has accelerated actions in the jurisdiction. Customs ASO enhanced the monitoring and patrolling of suspected routes in the territory for curbing menace of smuggled goods.
Multan Customs formed special anti-smuggling squads comprising Superintendent Muhammad Ramzan Seyal, Inspector Waqas Leghari, Inspector Asif Rafique, Inspector Abdul Samad and others to take stern action against smuggled goods.
Multan Customs recovered 26 heavy traffic vehicle tyres from Rajanpur in their action. Anti-Smuggling squad recovered 14 different HTV tyres from Taunsa Barrage and seized 11 non-customs paid HTV from Muzaffargarh region. Said heavy traffic vehicle (HTV) tyres were loaded on a truck of a goods company and recovered 51 brands of HTV tyres of Rs1.5 million in their action. Anti-smuggling squad has impounded non-customs Toyota Land Cruiser from Sher Shah Bypass. The net worth of seized vehicle and HTV tyres is Rs3.5 million.
Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad asked them to produce legal documents but they were failed to produce it. Customs teams seized all recovered tyres and vehicle under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations were still underway.
