MULTAN: the Excise and Taxation Department has sealed 789 commercial and residential properties on non-payment of taxes during the last three days.
Sources told Customs Today that the Excise property branch has initiated a campaign and started crackdown against tax defaulters on the direction of Director Excise and Taxation Jaam Siraaj Ahmad after issuing final notices on non-payment of property taxes. The property branch has sealed different properties of tax defaulters, including shops which are located in famous plazas of Multan.
This operation was conducted against tax defaulters to collect all the outstanding taxes without any further delay. The properties which were sealed by Excise team are located in Mumtazabad, Gulgasht, Garden Town, Wapda Town, Bohar Gate, Askariya Colony and other areas.
Property tax branch of Excise collected Rs 6.9 million taxes from defaulters in last three days and most of the property tax has been paid by the tax payers by itself at the time of sealing their properties.
