He said the customs organizations worldwide commemorate International Customs Day each year on 26th of January, and the World Customs Organisation (WCO) has attributed this year to the slogan “Data Analysis for Effective Border Management”.

He emphasized that the data analysis is the backbone of customs’ procedures and processes and related to the imports and exports’ data and valuation aspect. As far as the anti-smuggling activity is concerned, the PAX profiling at international airports, risk management at sea ports and dry ports or on land customs stations cannot be overlooked.

Answering a query, the collector said the MCC Islamabad was established in 1981 and the collectorate has 604 employees which has broken all previous records and excelled in all fields including taxpayers and passengers’ facilitation, revenue generation, target achievement, anti-smuggling, anti-narcotics and anti-psychotropic substance, recovery of arrears, auctions, follow-up of legal cases, settlement of audit paras and in all other areas of performance.

Answering another question, he said the success of MCC has been achieved by the team of brilliant officers of the collectorate with the active support of all the agencies and organizations concerned of which FBR tops. The directorate general of intelligence and investigation, foreign donor agencies, NADRA and FIA will continue to perform with the same commitment, integrity, efficiency and courtesy.
