LAHORE: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly has sought a reply from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on increase in smuggling activities in border areas.
According to reports, more than $2.6 billion worth of drugs and illicit items are being smuggled every year and most of which were smuggled through Pak-India border.
The report revealed that some government departments are also involved in smuggling activities which resulted in 50 percent increase in smuggling activities at Pak-India border.
In previous year, twenty smugglers were arrested and only seventeen cases were registered against smugglers.
