PCT body classifies heading of ‘Hajmola tablets-Dabur’

KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) committee of the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Appraisement- East has classified the PCT heading of “Hajmola tablets-Dabur” under PCT heading 2106.9090.

The chairman PCT committee, Additional Collector Muhammad Tahir in Public Notice No11/2015 stated that the goods are therefore, appropriately classifiable under PCT heading 2106.9090; adding that Public Notice No2/2011 issued earlier by this Classification Center is hereby rescinded to the extent of classification of “Hajmola Tablets—Dabur.

According to details, the matter was examined by the Classification Committee and after detailed deliberations, classification of the product namely “Hajmola Tablets”—Dabur was decided under PCT heading 3004.9090 being “Ayurvedic Medicine” by the classification Center, Custom House, Karachi vide Public Notice No2/2011.

Later, the matter was also taken up by the Harmonized System Committee of World Customs Organization (WCO), Brussels in its 53rd session in Mrach-2014 concerning amendments to the Harmonized System Compendium of Classification Opinions.

The Compendium of Classification Opinions inserted the following classification opinion: “concluded that in terms of application of GIRs 1 & 6, the product in question has been declared appropriately classifiable under HS Code 2106.90”.

The Chairman PCT Committee of MCC-Appraisement (East) has gone through the classification decision of the WCO and therefore stated that the “Hajmola Tablets—Dabur is classifiable under PCT Heading 2106.9090.
