Peshawar Customs destroyed huge quantity of narcotics

PESHAWAR: Modern Custom Collectorate (MCC) Peshawar destroyed a large quantity of confiscated goods, including narcotics, liquor, counterfeit material and other miscellaneous items in Azakhel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On this occasion of Narcotics Destruction Ceremony, Collector MCC Peshawar, Muhammad Aamer, said that destruction of these goods is not only a simple disposal mechanism of such banned goods but also send a strong message to the nefarious smugglers that the business they are dealing in is heinous and the civil society hates the same. He added that government officials who are public servants, are fully aware of the public demand that such activities are to be discouraged at any cost, however, the law enforcement agencies (of which Custom department is one of them) feel proud to combat the same and are in constant pursuit of foiling narcotics smuggling.

“ In this back drop, MCC Peshawar takes the pride to destructed 10, 068 kilogram (kg) of charas, 356 kg of opium, 139 kg of heroin, 1,423 bottles of liquor 1,211 kg of acetic anhydride and other miscellaneous goods worth of billion of rupees” he informed.

On this occasion MCC Peshawar Collector also appreciated the efforts made by Deputy Collector ASO Ubaid Ullah in foiling smuggling bids and seized huge caches of drugs in short period.

“Despite the fact that Pakistan Custom generally and MCC Peshawar particularly remains under resourced and under staffed, their contribution in seizing such among of narcotics and other goods is commendable”, Muhammad Aamer said.

He also appreciate contribution of partner agencies such as ANF and the Directorate General of Custom Intelligence who also played their due role in curbing the menace of the drug trafficking.
